I was mostly responsible for implementing gameplay-related features like the camera, player controls and interactions, the vacuums’ AI and the connection between the reprogramming system and the resulting entities’ behaviour.
The game was created together with Sandro Figo and Elke Trummer within one week as part of the Major Jam 4 on itch.io.
Unfortunately, we did not have the time to implement and iterate on many user experience-related features like a proper tutorial or a clearer game progression which, looking at the game now, makes it more confusing than I would like.
Nevertheless, I am still very fond of the idea of reprogramming robots and the ways you can mess with the system to create some fun behaviours, even though not all of them are especially useful. It still amazes me how Sandro was able to implement such a complex system in such a short amount of time while still making it usable and easy to implement with the gameplay features. Also, I am still very much in love with the adorable little robots Elke created.
